Local News

RIO GRANDE CITY, Texas – During the New Year holiday, Rio Grande City received a total of 6 calls for shots fired.

On January 1, 2020 just before 5:00 a.m., officers issued a citation to 46-year-old Cesar Garcia for violating city ordinance of discharging a firearm inside city limits at a home on Roosevelt Street.

This is a major drop in reported calls from the start of 2019. The Rio Grande City Police Department had nearly 30 calls of possible shots fired on New Years Eve.
