Celebrating Three King’s Day with the Rosca

Local News

Today is Three King’s Day, or as it’s known in the Hispanic culture, Dia de Los Reyes Magos. And the day isn’t celebrated without that Rosca bread.

H-E-B’s across the nation baked thousands of Roscas. And we got to witness the blessing of the bread at the H-E-B in Brownsville.

Upon breaking the bread, anyone who gets the plastic Baby Jesus is meant to throw a party for their family in February.

Jimmy Garcia, H-E-B Operations Leader, “How many stories do we have out here right? Growing up with your mom with your grandma, abuelita y abuelito sharing the Rosca on the Seis de Reyes. We felt it’s a great opportunity for us and then today right is sharing this great Rosca with our customers, our partners, really tie it all together.”

Amanda Garza, H-E-B Bakery Manager, “It’s a lot! Definitely, enough for everyone. We have plenty for everybody to come and celebrate and provide for their families definitely.”

Many bakeries such as H-E-B will be selling the Rosca even through tomorrow. And remember, if you get that plastic Baby Jesus, a party is due!
