U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility seized marijuana valued at $307,321 over the weekend.
“Once again our CBP officers at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility applied their experience, targeting, training and this collaboration of effort generated a substantial seizure of narcotics within the shipment of picture frames,” said Port Director Efrain Solis Jr., Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry.
The seizure occurred on July 16 when CBP officers assigned to the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility encountered a white Freightliner tractor hauling a commercial shipment of picture frames. The conveyance was referred for a secondary inspection. A physical inspection of the picture frames revealed marijuana concealed within them. CBP officers extracted 1,450 packages containing a total of 1,537 pounds of marijuana from the picture frames.
CBP OFO seized the drugs. The case remains under investigation by Homeland Security Investigations special agents.
