CBP officers seize methamphetamine at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge

Brownsville, Texas (KVEO)—U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seize load of methamphetamine under clothing of a man at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge.

The agency said an 18-year-old man United States citizen was taken to a secondary inspection area by agents after attempting to enter the United States through the pedestrian lane.

CBP officers then discovered a package containing a total of 6.74 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of more than $130,000 according to a statement.

“Our CBP officers’ vigilance and commitment to keep our borders secure allowed them to intercept these dangerous narcotics and keep them from entering our country,” said Port Director Tater Ortiz, Brownsville Port of Entry.

CBP officers seized the narcotics, arrested the man, and turned him over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents for further investigation.
