U.S. Customs and Border Protection foiled three separate human smuggling attempts over the weekend.
Agents said the first discovery was made on Friday at the Falfurrias checkpoint when a Border Patrol K-9 alerted to a semi tractor-trailer. Upon secondary inspection, agents found 11 undocumented immigrants hidden between pallets of flour. The 11 undocumented immigrants were from the countries of Honduras, El Salvador, and Mexico.
CBP said the second discovery was made on Sunday when Kingsville agents working at the Javier Vega Jr. checkpoint referred a tractor and trailer for inspection after a Border Patrol K-9 alerted to the trailer. Upon search, nine undocumented immigrants were trying to conceal themselves within crates of produce. After being arrested, agents learned that the undocumented immigrants were from the countries of Mexico and El Salvador.
The last discovery was made by agents on Monday morning when agents referred a tractor and trailer for a secondary inspection after a Border Patrol K-9 alerted. Upon search, agents found 17 undocumented immigrants inside the trailer. The driver of the vehicle was arrested.
CBP said all the undocumented immigrants that were located are being processed by Border Patrol.
