Several Catholic Church parishes will be hosting health care district forums beginning August 25th.
Rev. Jerry Frank of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church will be hosting the workshops.
Frank says they are intended to teach around 15 parishes across Hidalgo County about the benefits of a health care district.
“[There’s a] tremendous great need for medical help. And especially now that the State of Texas isn’t participating at all in extended Medicaid. You know, so many people are left out,” Rev. Frank said.
Frank initially voted against the healthcare district in 2014. But changed his position after hospital executives agreed to allocate 20% of the program’s revenues toward non-profit and federally qualified clinics for the indigent.
