Those in the fight for their lives will be walking down the runway to bring awareness to childhood cancer.

The Celebration of Heroes will show case current childhood cancer patients on Wednesday at the McAllen Convention Center.

The fashion show is put on by The Vannie Cook Clinic, as their biggest fundraiser for the year.

The money raised is used for direct patient care, primarily chemo therapy for those patients that aren’t able to pay for their treatment.

Current patients will be escorted by the clinic’s community heroes.

The walk will honor local children who have lost the battle against cancer and celebrate those currently still fighting.

Hector Sandoval is one of those fighters.

“I want to thank everyone who sponsored the event because of them we get to have our treatments here in the valley and not go somewhere else,” he said.

Every year the clinic diagnoses about 600 new patients, giving care to those little ones all the way up to adulthood. The clinics annual fundraising goal is $2 Million Dollars.
