Campus Carry Begins on Community College Campuses

Local News

Beginning August 1, 2017 individuals with a license to carry concealed handguns can do so in community colleges.

Students, educators, and visitors can carry a concealed weapon on certain spaces. Areas marked as exclusionary zones are places where weapons are not allowed even if concealed. The law known as ‘Campus Carry’ has been in effect since 2016.

TSC officials said the law first went into effect for four-year institutions. Since then they [TSC] have been able to look to them for them for guidance, to see how it has been implemented.

As a reminder, handguns should not be visible on campus grounds. If you do spot someone with a handgun on a college campus, you are urged to contact authorities.
