CAMERON COUNTY, Texas — Cameron County officials are advising residents about scam calls regarding active warrants and requesting payment.

According to county officials, a group of scammers are impersonating the county judge and Brownsville Police Department.

The scammers inform the recipient that they have an active warrant and seek credit card information and immediate payment over the phone.

County officials urge that residents will not receive a call from an official authority to request a payment.

Recipients of these calls are asked to call your local police department to report the crime.
