The Cameron County Sheriff’s Office is getting into the Christmas spirit by helping others this holiday season.

Cameron County Sheriff Eddie Lucio said toys will be delivered to needy families along with food.

Lucio said bringing joy to a child’s face this Christmas is important.

“We want them to be a part of this Christmas right here. Not a lot of youngsters are receiving toys. If they don’t have anything to do, well, like a little child, you feel sad, you feel bad. We want to lighten up their life, we want them to know there’s somebody who cares for them.”

Lucio added that if you know someone who has children, call the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office, and provide the address and the age of the children.

Gifts will be delivered starting on Monday to different families.
