BROWNSVILLE – The Cameron County Sheriff’s Office says a detention officer has tested positive for COVID-19.
Officials say the officer was in the facility until June 9. On Tuesday, his results were returned as positive
The sheriff’s office says preventive measures are in place and the officer followed proper protocol.
The Cameron County Sheriff’s Office said that no inmate has been diagnosed with COVID-19.
They said they are continuing their efforts and adhering to strict CDC guidelines within their jail facilities.
“We ask the community to keep us in your prayers as we strive each day to remain healthy to continue to provide Cameron County with the best possible service.” said the department.
