Cameron County closes three beach access areas until further notice

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas — Due to the threat of high tides predicted from Tropical Storm Cristobal, Cameron County is closing three beach access areas on South Padre Island.

Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño mandated the order until further notice beginning Sunday at 8:30 a.m.

The following areas will be closed to vehicle travel:

  1. County Beach Access #5
  2. County Beach Access #6
  3. Boca Chica Beach

Additionally, residents are advised to be cautious when visiting the beach and are asked to follow the Flag Advisory System located at the beach.

Other county beaches will remain open until further notice.
