The annual celebration of the monarch butterfly in the Rio Grande Valley has been set for Saturday, March 21.
The 2020 Monarch Fest will take place at Quinta Mazatlán, located at 600 Sunset Drive from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The fest gives attendees the opportunity to learn about the monarch butterfly through fun activities.
“I invite families to come enjoy Monarch Fest2020 at Quinta Mazatlán because when communities make an effort to not only take care of and preserve their natural environment, but also, to celebrate those efforts, great things can happen,” said McAllen Mayor Jim Darling in the release. “At Monarch Fest 2020, people can take The Mayor’s Monarch Pledge and commit to add a butterfly garden at their home, school, or other location, which is so important to help create migration oasis for the monarch butterflies.”
According to the release, this year the fest will celebrate all pollinators including birds, bats, bees, bugs and butterflies.
Tickets to the event are $5 per person, children 2-year-olds and younger go in free, said the release.
