BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The Brownsville Police Department confirming an Officer Involved Shooting (OIS) on Sunday. However, they did not release a location, time, the officer’s name, badge number, and health of the suspected shooter.
The Combined Law Enforcement Association of Texas (CLEAT) confirms the suspected shooter, an adult male is dead. Charley Wilkinson, Executive Director of CLEAT released a statement on Facebook that the shooter refused orders and began firing at the officer. Wilkinson also saying the officer is ok.
According to CLEAT this is the 101st Officer Involved Shooting in Texas in 2019.
The family confirms the victim’s identity as Mario Torres.
