Brownsville Police Department Purchases New Units

Local News

Today the Brownsville Police Department is keeping our streets safe in some brand-new units.

More than 52 ford sedans and SUV’s are now patrolling thanks to $2.6 million dollars acquired with the help of our Brownsville city commission.

Chief Orlando Rodriguez says these units will be replacing others that aged over the years.

They will add new state of the art technology that will help the officers on the field.

Brownsville Police Chief Orlando Rodriguez said, “State of the art laptops, cameras, lights, I mean we wanted to have the best of the best for our officers, and they need that to be able to do their job and we feel with these purchases they’ll be able to do so.”

Brownsville City Manager Charlie Cabbler said, “And like we’ve noted, for us to be able to get up in the morning and do our daily thing at work, we need to ensure that our city is safe and that’s what they provide for us.”

The Brownsville Police Department will continue to use some of their older patrol units as well.
