BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Brownsville city officials announced the Brownsville School District is suspending its meal program.

In a post, Mayor Trey Mendez said the district would also be allowing essential staff to work from home.

Mendez adds Brownsville received notice of five new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the total to 23.

In the post, Mendez also mentions that he has expressed that BISD should continue classes via distance learning.
