Brownsville ISD delivering signs to Top 10 percent students

Local News

BROWNSVILLE — Students across Brownsville received a surprise at their door on Friday.

Brownsville ISD officials delivered signs to students in the Top 10 percentile of each of the district’s seven high schools.

Brownsville ISD Superintendent Rene Guerra says the initiative is a way to show the class of 2020 they have not been forgotten.

This also allows the district to highlight the accomplishments of their seniors.

“One of the things we want to make sure is that we have not forgotten our kids; our kids are at home but we’re still keeping in touch with them through distance learning as well as calls, doing zoom, conferencing and now going and making home visits is another way for us to reach out to them.”

Gutierrez adds that the district is hoping to host a graduation ceremony in the summer for seniors.
