Brownsville ISD chooses a new superintendent

Local News

BROWNSVILLE, Texas — The Edinburg CISD superintendent is the lone finalist for the job of superintendent at Brownsville ISD. At a special called board meeting the BISD trustees officially named Dr. Rene Gutierrez as the top contender. He has served as Edinburg CISD superintendent for 10 years.

State law requires that Brownsville ISD now wait 21 days before offering Dr. Gutierrez a contract. This comes after former BISD Superintendent Esperanza Zendejas was placed on administrative leave and eventually resigned earlier this year.
