Brothers perform cello concertos for first responders

MCALLEN, Texas – On Wednesday afternoon, McAllen brothers Octavio Cruz from Nikki Rowe High School, Alejandro Cruz also from Nikki Rowe and Marco Antonio Cruz from Fossum Middle School will perform a cello concerto outside of McAllen Central Fire Station, said the city’s press release.

The brothers said it is a way of saying thanks to these first responders, and to keep their music playing skills sharp. The Cruz brothers will be performing on Wednesday, May 20 at 4 p.m. outside of the McAllen Central Fire Station located at 201 N. 21st St.

Some of the classical selections they will be playing are:

  • “Prelude” by Bach
  • “Spring” from The Four Seasons by Vivaldi
  • “Habanero” by Bizette
  • “Symphony #25” by Mozart

The city’s press release reminds the public to wear masks and practice social distancing. The concert will be carried live on the City of McAllen Facebook.
