Boys & Girls Club Rappelers Go Over the Edge

Local News

The Boys & Girls Club of McAllen, Edinburg, and Pharr will be hosting their first Over the Edge Experience, Saturday.

Seventy five people will rappel down from the 17th story of Chase tower in efforts to raise money to send children to summer camp.

There will be live music and a food truck party from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This is the first time the Boys and Girls Clubs use rappelling as a means to raise money, but they hope to draw in more sponsors to send as many as 500 children to summer camp in years to come.

Those who choose to rappel will receive training onsite by expert rappellers, and first responders will also be there in case of emergency.

Each rappeller raised $2,500 in order to participate.

Anyone interested in donating or participating in next year’s Over the Edge Experience can contact the Boys & Girls Club of either city for more information.
