Boyfriend of Police Officer Charged With Aggravated Assault and Manslaughter

The boyfriend of a McAllen Police officer who was pregnant, has been charged for allegedly shooting her accidentally, causing her to lose the baby.

25-year-old Jesus Abides Campos is being charged with Aggravated Assault and Manslaughter. McAllen Police say the shooting happened on Friday evening, July 20 in the 6100 block of North 46th Street. Police received a call from the officer who was off duty at the time.

Authorities say a preliminary report showed the shooting was accidental while Campos was handling a long barrel weapon.
