The city of Hidalgo is ready to welcome thousands of residents across the RGV this weekend for their annual Borderfest Celebration.

The city officially kicked off the festivities with their traditional ‘Abrazo International Ceremony.’
This is an annual event that brings leaders from the U.S. and Mexico to the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge to celebrate their partnership.

The Hidalgo City Manager says this event couldn’t have come at a better time to reassure residents that Mexico and the U.S. will continue their partnership.

Julian Joel Gonzalez – Hidalgo City Manager said, “As the years have evolved, and the commerce has evolved, these partnerships have become stronger. We will continue here in the border to have our relations with Mexico in terms of our businesses, our friendships, and our partnerships. They’re very important, not only to the economy of the state of Texas.”

Borderfest begins March 3 with a series of shows, that include a performance by country singer Clay Walker.
