On October 9, 2018, Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol along with the Laredo Field Office, and Joint Task Force-West (JTF-W) South Texas Corridor (STC) held its third annual Identifying Methods and Procedures Affecting Corridors Throughout Southern Borders (I.M.P.A.C.T) seminar for 19 Louisiana State Police officers.
This specialized three-day training is an effort to combat Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs) and their illegal activities. The training provides officers with research-based knowledge and best practices in order to identify current smuggling tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP’s). Rio Grande Valley Sector intelligence agents briefed the officers on the latest human, narcotic, weapons, and currency smuggling trends. Falfurrias Border Patrol Agents (BPA’s) and Customs and Border Protection Officers (CBPO’s) gave an overview of the checkpoint and Hidalgo Port-of-Entry operations. Officers were able to observe CBPO’s and BPA’s perform their respective duties.
The multi-layered comprehensive training allowed participants to obtain a broader understanding of the never ending TTPs TCOs explore to ensure a positive smuggling/ trafficking outcome.
