Border Patrol agents stopped four human smuggling attempts that led to the arrest of 24 undocumented immigrants over the last few days.
A release states that border agents on Highway 77 attempted to stop a vehicle on Monday. After a short distance, the vehicle came to a stop and all occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled. Agents searched the immediate area and arrested six individuals from El Salvador and Honduras.
On another occasion, McAllen agents working near Sullivan City observed a vehicle pick up multiple subjects at an area known for human smuggling, said the release.
According to officials, the driver failed to yield to a vehicle stop. With the help of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Marine air asset, CBP agents observed the vehicle stop and saw several individuals escape. Agents searched the area and arrested four undocumented immigrants from Mexico, Ecuador and Honduras.
The release adds that in two other separate human smuggling attempts agents arrested 14 undocumented immigrants.
Border Patrol is processing all individuals arrested accordingly, said the release.
