Border Patrol agents seize over $2.7 million worth of drugs

EDINBURG – Since Friday, RGV Border Patrol agents have seized over 315 pounds of marijuana and more than 75 pounds of cocaine.

On Friday, agents working at Fort Brown conducted patrol operations near Brownsville. The agency’s press release said they discovered three black plastic bags at the bottom of a canal. A search of the bags showed more than 35 pounds of marijuana worth about $28,000.

Saturday evening, Border Patrol said Harlingen agents working near La Gloria, Texas, observed a subject running south of the river levee. Agents searched the nearby field and discovered four bundles of marijuana weighing more than 283 pounds of marijuana, worth more than $226,000.

In addition, agents assigned to the checkpoints seized approximately 75 pounds of cocaine, worth more than $2.4 million in two separate incidents, said the release.
