Border Patrol agents arrested a trucker at the Falfurrias checkpoint last week, when they caught him with about 136 pounds of marijuana.
Agents stopped William Joseph Rodriguez on Wednesday, when he arrived at the checkpoint hauling a load of watermelons.
After an X-ray revealed anomalies, agents searched the cab and found three duffel bags packed with marijuana, according to the criminal complaint. The marijuana weighed about 136 pounds.
Rodriguez said he planned to transport the marijuana to Beaumont, where someone would pay him $100 per pound, according to the criminal complaint.
A passenger in the truck denied knowing anything about the drugs.
Rodriguez is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
An attorney for Rodriguez couldn’t be reached for comment Monday.
