Border patrol agents arrest registered sex offender in Brownsville

U.S. Border Patrol agent in the Rio Grande Valley arrested a registered sex offender.

According to a release, on Wednesday morning agents working in Brownsville arrested Bienvenido Alberto Bonilla-Ponce, of Honduras.

Bonilla-Ponce was arrested after illegally entering the U.S. said the release.

Officials informed he was seen jumping over the fence near the IDEA Riverview campus. Bonilla-Ponce was taken into custody.

The release states a record check showed Bonilla-Ponce had a previous conviction for indecency with a child out of Cameron County, Texas.

Authorities said in the release Border Patrol is Bonilla-Ponce is being processed accordingly.
