Border Patrol agents arrested a Salvadoran sex offender Friday near Hidalgo.
Agents arrested 21-year-old Miguel Angel Cruz-Alvarez on Friday, according to the federal criminal complaint against him.
“The defendant claims to have illegally entered the United States on February 19, 2016, near Hidalgo, Texas,” according to the criminal complaint. “Record checks revealed the defendant was formally deported/excluded from the United States on May 14, 2014, through Houston, Texas.”
Agents charged Cruz-Alvarez with illegal re-entry.
Cruz-Alvarez is a registered sex offender who was convicted of indecency with a child by exposure, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s website. His last known address is listed as “immigration.”
