Border Patrol agents arrested four human smugglers and 13 undocumented immigrants in separate incidents.
According to a release, Falfurrias agents working at a checkpoint referred a tractor-trailer for a secondary inspection after a service K-9 alerted. During the secondary investigation, a locked trailer revealed nine undocumented immigrants, including the driver. After interview, officials determined they were from Guatemala and Honduras.
The release added that since last Wednesday agents halted three smuggling attempts in Starr County arresting drivers and taking four additional undocumented immigrants into custody.
Officials said the cases remain under investigation and Border Patrol is processing all subjects accordingly.
