Bookkeeper Arrested for Taking 300,000 Dollars from Local Business

Local News

A local book-keeper is behind bars for stealing approximately $308,000 from a local business.

According to Cameron County Sheriff’s Office, 35-year-old Francisco Hernandez Limon was allegedly misappropriating funds from Los Fresnos Family Dentistry.

Sheriff Omar Lucio Tells News Center 23 that a complaint from the dental office was filed to the sheriff’s office in 2016. Investigators determined Limon had been taking money since 2013.

“He did it by a way of taking cash from the business, forging checks, charging stuff… at the business credit and many many times giving himself unauthorized bonuses,” says Lucio.

The sheriff also says this type of investigation seldom happens at his department.

Misapplication of fiduciary property over $300,000 is a felony of the first degree.

The punishment could reach up to 99 years in a penitentiary.
