Body Washed Ashore Presumably An Undocumented Immigrant Separated From Larger Group

Local News

Federal agents with Homeland Security Investigations may have positively identified the body of a man who washed ashore Monday at around 11:30 AM. According to Cameron County Park Ranger Chief Horacio Zamora, the man is an undocumented immigrant who was part of a larger group apprehended by Border Patrol on Easter Sunday. “They’re working with the Mexican consul’s office to find a next of kin,” said Chief Zamora.

Beachgoers were shocked at the grizzly discovery while enjoying their Monday off from school and work at County Beach Access #5. A mother and her 16-year-old son spoke with Local 23 and said the man looked to be approximately 60 years old. “I know CPR and knew it was too late.” said another beachgoer who did not want to speak on camera.
