BISD Reaches Out to Assist Immigrant Children

Local News

The Brownsville Independent School District released a press release regarding immigrant children.

BISD superintendent Dr. Esperanza Zendejas has sent a communication to the Texas Education Agency offering any assistance that the district may be able to provide to immigrant children currently housed in temporary centers.

Her letter was addressed to Mr. A. J. Crabill who serves as TEA’s Deputy Commissioner for Governance.

Dr. Zendejas stated “Because of our commitment to all within our boundaries I have contacted the state agency for direction as to how we might fill any gaps that exist in meeting the needs of these children.”

She added that whether it was instruction, counseling, or materials the Brownsville Independent School District stands ready to be or service.
