BISD hosts first public vaping outreach

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The Brownsville Independent School District will begin its first public outreach meeting on Vaping.

Tonight, the district is inviting community members to discuss the dangers of the growing trend and its effects on children.

They will be meeting at Veterans Memorial Early College High School Auditorium at 6:00 PM

Stillman Middle School Nurse, Corina Medina, is delivering a presentation on vaping and health impacts. She says there are 7 signs you can look out for to find out if your teen is vaping.

  1. Increased thirst
  2. Nose bleeds
  3. Mouth sores and persistent coughs
  4. Unfamiliar USB drives and battery chargers.
  5. Odd clothing choices
  6. Change in caffeine use
  7. Unexplained sweet scents

She will also speak on a new threat known as e-cigarette, or vaping, product use associated lung injury (EVALI).
