Bird watchers from across the world continue to flock to Harlingen for the 24th Annual Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival.
RGV Birding Festival Chair Sue Griffith says nearly 3,000 people have registered to attend the festival, hoping to spot dozens of bird species that stop in the Valley during their migration season.
Griffith says bird watchers are concerned about the environmental impact a border wall would have.
“A lot of people want to make sure they get to Santa Ana before that wall goes up and hope to maybe influence the government in realizing that it’s not a good thing to do if you want birders to come,” Griffith said.
The RGV Birding Festival will continue through Sunday.
