BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The public can now get its first glimpse of a new baby at the Glady’s Porter Zoo in Brownsville.
A baby pygmy hippo has made its debut this week. Visitors to the zoo can now see the baby on exhibit with its mother, clover.
The baby’s sex has not yet been determined by staff, but it’s believed it may be a female.
Pygmy hippos are listed on the endangered list with less than 3,000 believed to be living in the wild.
