Authorities have identified the body of a man that was found near Santa Rosa on Sunday morning. 

Authorities say Alejandro Galvan, 33, of Santa Rosa, was reported missing by family on Sunday morning. His body was found a few hours later at a levee located at FM 506 and Ballenger Rd, according to Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio. 

Lucio tells CBS 4 Galvan and his cousin had been drinking and were driving home when they “pulled over by the levee to urinate.” Galvan’s cousin got back in the car but did not know where Galvan was. 

Lucio says Galvan’s cousin told authorities that he drove home thinking Galvan had left walking. Upon arriving home, the cousin realized Galvan was missing and it was then family filed a missing person’s report. Lucio adds that family went to search for Galvan in the last place he had been seen and it was there that his body was found in the levee.

According to Lucio, authorities will continue to investigate the incident but adds that there are no signs of foul play and an autopsy is expected to be conducted.

Cameron County authorities are investigating after a body was found near Santa Rosa.

According to officials with the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office, the body was found in a canal on Sunday morning.
