An arrest has been made after a dog was shot in the leg in October.
According to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, Charles Dean Lawson, 66, was arrested last week on animal cruelty charges.
The incident occurred on October 9 after they received a report that their dog was found in the backyard with an injury to its right leg a few minutes after hearing gunshots in the neighborhood.
CBS 4 spoke with the dog owner’s family following the shooting.
Lawson has been charged with animal cruelty non-livestock animal.
Bond for Lawson has been set at $25,000.
