BROWNSVILLE, Texas -A man will remain in prison after his appeal was denied by the 13th Court.

Jose Garcia Ramirez was sentenced to 65 years in prison after being charged with one count of continuous sexual abuse of a young child, two counts of indecency with a child by contact and two counts of indecency with a child by exposure.

According to the District Attorney’s office, Ramirez sexually abused five children between the ages of 8 and 12 over the course of 5 years.

Ramirez will not be eligible for parole until he serves at least 50 years of his sentence day for day, said district attorney Luis V. Saenz.

“I hope this sends the message that Cameron County will not tolerate the acts of child sex
predators. With the help of law enforcement, and our community partners like the child
advocacy center, our Child Abuse Unit will continue to seek the appropriated sentences for child
sexual predators and our Appellate team will make sure the punishments secured are carried out
to see that justice is done,” said Saenz.
