MCALLEN, Texas – In celebration of International Women’s Day, the city of McAllen hosted an annual breakfast; putting trailblazing women front and center.
The breakfast symposium for female employees is part of their Women’s History Month. This year’s theme is “Rise Up and Take Courage”. The event is in its fourth year and featured the 2020 panel of community trailblazing women. Veronica Gonzales, vice-president of Government and Community Relations at UTRGV and Nancy Pearl Trevino, a public health coordinator with Hidalgo County.
Tania Ramirez, City Commissioner Place 4, “Today is just an appreciation for saying thank you for being a part of our city. A lot of these women take a big part, a big role in the management of our city and the everyday duties. It’s nice to just stop and appreciate all that women do.”
The event also encourages all city female employees to think beyond their current positions. To persist and motivate them to see more opportunities within the city.
