Local News

HARLINGEN, Texas – Today is Giving Tuesday and there are many organizations that need your help. The American Red Cross in the Rio Grande Valley is sharing the many ways people can give back to the community. People can become volunteers, or they can donate blankets and food to the Red Cross, to help those affected by disasters.

The American Red Cross wants people to know that Giving Tuesday shouldn’t be a one day thing.

Ekland Durousseau, “You don’t have to just wait for giving Tuesday to give back to the community, you can think of everyday as Giving Tuesday by coming in and volunteering, that’s a great way to give back and help your community.”

To donate you can go to or call 1-800-RED-CROSS to find a location for donation drop-offs. To become a volunteer you can visit the Red Cross in Harlingen to sign up.
