Alton police have charged a man with capital murder for the death of a 4-month-old boy.
According to a release, authorities responded to the Mission Hospital in reference to an injured child on Feb. 24.
Upon arrival, Alton investigators were notified of a 4-month-old boy admitted to the hospital with head trauma.
The release states officials learned the child was in the care and custody of his mother’s boyfriend identified as Edgar Cruz Reyes Vallejo, 28, at the time of the injury.
The infant later died from injuries, said the release.
Alton police upgraded Cruz-Reyes-Vallejo’s charge to capital murder.
