Alton man arrested for assault with a machete, biting portion of father-in-law’s ear off

ALTON, Texas — One man is in custody after the Alton Police Department arrested him for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to officials, police responded to the 1900 block of E. Harding Street in Alton on Saturday in reference to a disturbance.

During the investigation, officers learned that Diego Alfonso Gonzalez assaulted his father-in-law and a second victim while wielding a machete.

Officers also discovered that Gonzalez bit a portion of the father-in-law’s ear off during the assault.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Gonzalez is charged on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
