ROMA, Texas – A rumored shooting at a Valley school has authorities on high alert. Roma ISD Police say they are taking extra precautions at their high school. After Border Patrol received a call from a woman saying she overheard a conversation between two individuals at a gas station. The pair reportedly planned to enter the school with guns this morning.
Ben Gonzalez, Roma ISD Police Chief, “As the investigation went on, we found out that this person, whoever was the caller, the information that she provided did not concur with the videos or the surveillance videos from the gas station. At this point as the investigation goes along we’re thinking more towards it was a hoax or that there was an intention of creating chaos or involving all the agencies as possible to maybe an alternative motive.”
Chief Gonzalez adds the school is now using a Raptor System that allows police to detect criminals by entering visitors’ personal identification number into the system. It also gives them access to the National Database of Sex Offenders.
