Border Patrol agents arrested a Mexican sex offender Wednesday in Starr County.

Agents encountered Juan Ivan Perez-Galindo, a Mexican citizen, on Wednesday near Roma, according to the criminal complaint against him.

The defendant claims to have illegally entered the United States on September 23, 2015 near Roma, Texas, according to the criminal complaint.

Record checks revealed Galindo was deported from the U.S. through Harlingen on February 28, 2013.

On July 29, 2010, the defendant was convicted of indecent liberty with a child and sentenced to 16 to 20 months confinement, according to the criminal complaint against him.
