Local News

MCALLEN, Texas – Actress and outspoken critic of President Donald Trump, Alyssa Milano was in McAllen yesterday to visit the Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley Respite Center. Along with Milano was U.S. Congressman Vicente Gonzalez. (View full uncut video)

Milano says she is in town shooting a film dealing with immigration, where she plays a social worker. She received a private tour of the center and said it was important for her to visit the center and to get to know the district to better understand what’s going on here. Milano says two of her grandparents immigrated to the United States.

“I was raised that this is a country that should welcome all people looking for a better life and looking for the American Dream. I think it needs to be a lot easier for people to come over here and not open borders obviously, but a humane way for immigrants to have due process, to hear their cases, to get their cases heard so they can live the American Dream.”

Milano called the morning spent at the respite center a special experience.
