9-year-old boy dies in accidental drowning in Donna Lake

A 9-year-old boy has died as the result of an accidental drowning in rural Donna.

According to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call in reference to a drowning on Sunday, April 14, just after 7 p.m. on Valley View Rd., south of Business 83.

Deputies learned the boy was walking with his family next to the Donna Lake when they lost sight of him. A few minutes later, the boy was found in the water and unresponsive. The Sheriff’s Office adds that through the course of an investigation, they determined it was an accidental drowning.
