9 more Brownsville PUB employees test positive for COVID-19

BROWNSVILLE – The Brownsville Public Utility Board (BPUB) announced that nine more PUB employees have tested positive for the virus.

The said several actions have already been taken as a precautionary measure, including a deep cleaning of the employees’ work areas, a deep cleaning of common areas and working with city and county health officials.

BPUB said they will continue to follow CDC guidelines for workplace safety, require employees to use
facial coverings, promote good hygiene practices and share health, safety and travel guidelines
with all employees.

BPUB reassures customers that there is still staff on hand for ongoing electric, water and
wastewater operations and customer service inquiries.

They say any departments are working from remote locations until the pandemic eases.

BPUB offices have been closed to visitors and customers since March 17.
