6 Brownsville PUB employees test positive for COVID-19

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The Brownsville Public Utility Board (BPUB) reported six more cases of employees testing positive for COVID-19. BPUB said as a precautionary measures, a deep cleaning of the employees’ work areas and a deep cleaning of common areas have been done.

BPUB, working with city and county health officials, will continue to follow CDC guidelines for workplace safety. The guidelines require employees to use facial coverings, promote good hygiene practices and shared health, along with safety and travel guidelines.

BPUB reassure customers that there is still staff on hand for ongoing electric, water and wastewater operations and customer service inquiries. Many departments are working from remote locations until the pandemic eases. BPUB offices have been closed to visitors and customers since March 17.

BPUB encourages the community to practice social distancing by making account inquiries or paying bills online or by phone to help flatten the curve of COVID-19.
