5K to Prevent Child Abuse

Local News

Keys Academy with the Harlingen Consolidated School District is bringing awareness to child abuse prevention with a 5K run and walk taking place tomorrow.

The 5K will benefit organizations that help the community like Maggie and Monica’s House, and the HCISD teen parenting program.

Maggie and Monica’s House offers free therapy services for children and their non-offending family members.

Which includes a closet to assist our clients when children have needs such as clothing items, school supplies, and food items.

“Our purpose is to spread awareness for child abuse prevention throughout Cameron County so our part to spread child abuse and awareness and prevention here in Harlingen, we try to invite the community so they can be aware of the dangers of child abuse and neglect,” said Brenda Garcia, HCISD Teen Parenting Coordinator.
