MCALLEN, Texas (KVEO) — The McAllen Fire Department confirmed the death of four-year-old Justin Perez.

Justin was named McAllen fire chief for a day in early May thanks to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Justin was battling cancer, according to officials.

He wished to become fire chief because firefighters were one of his favorite super heroes.

Our world is better because you showed up. We’ll see you at “the big-one” chief!
